Burj Khalifa
BUILDING AN ICON
The iconic Burj Khalifa (formerly Burj Dubai) is currently the world’s tallest building, standing at an impressive 830m high. Built by Emaar to transform the image of Dubai, this ambitious project established the building as a luxury brand and the region as a world-class destination.
HISTORY RISING
The brand was built around the idea of ‘history rising’, the bold, minimal brand identity was inspired by the precision of the project and the single-minded ambition of its purpose.
BRAND DEVELOPMENT
I was flown out to Landor Dubai to help with the design development of all the brands in the Burj Dubai downtown development, including The Dubai Mall and The Old Town. This included brand look and feel creation, literature and brand guidelines. After the name change to Burj Khalifa all the logo artworks were changed but the design system remained the same.
BOOK DESIGN
Two books were created and presented in an acid etched, steel slip case for the launch of the luxury development. The first book tells the story of man’s obsession with height, from the Pyramids to the Empire State Building, before describing the vision behind sky-living at the world’s most prestigious address. The second book highlights the ‘six-star’ facilities and services available to all the residents. I designed the look and feel of the books, managing the design team and liaising with and managing the printers on the ground in Dubai.
